Rai Radio 3 is an Italian radio station operated by public broadcasting company RAI, specialising in culture and classical music.

The station was founded in 1950 as the Terzo programma and was loosely based on its British namesake, the BBC Third Programme, which had been established in 1946. It adopted its current name in 1976.[1]

Programming is focused on the cultural sphere: classical and avant-garde music (including live concerts), drama, literature, history, philosophy, religion and mythology.
